IE Screenshots
Lets Face it, The most crummy part of being a web designer is the first view of your beautiful site in Internet Explorer. Many of us are mac users and rely on parallels, friend’s computers, or browser screenshots to test our sites in IE.
I have recently been working out some bugs in IE and here are my conclusions to using each of them.
The first, Parallels, scares me. First off, I am not an IT person. I can get most things to work programs to install, but when it comes to something that complex the last thing I need is to be locked in windows. I also have issues running such a buggy browser on my beautiful bug free mac. (see the latest at bbc – “Serious Security Flaw Found In IE“).
The second, friends just dont understand that it may take 2 minutes to make a fix, or it might take 5 hours. So, unless your friend doesnt need their computer for a long period of time, this might not be your best option.
Lastly, Browsershots, There are several of them out there. Some are free, some cost, some have trial periods that send you a confirmation email an hour after you needed it. The best solution I have found for a quick free view is drum roll….

Its fast, its free. The only downside is that it only does IE, but hey… Isn’t that where all the bugs are anyways?
